 What does it take to be a 9-1-1 dispatcher?

Dispatchers play a vital role in our police department.  They are the nucleus to our city and are often the first point of contact to our citizens who may be victims of crimes or calling because they have a life-threatening emergency. 

Our dispatchers must multi-task by working police radio and fielding several requests from our Police officers and civilian personal while simultaneously answering emergency and non-emergency lines; in addition to making outgoing phone calls.  They remain compassionate and patient while gathering pertinent information, offer direction to our community and send out the necessary resources.
