In the event of an emergency, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the City of Pomona will be activated to respond according to the severity of the situation. Pomona is located in a unique geographical area with various potential concerns and is part of Disaster Management Area D in L.A. County. The response coordination will follow this channel: Pomona’s EOC, L.A. County Operations Area EOC, California Office of Emergency Services Southern Region, and the California Office of Emergency Services.
The EOC can be activated by the Pomona City Manager, Pomona Police Chief, or the on-scene manager of the disaster. Common reasons for EOC activation include significant earthquakes causing damage in the city, statewide emergencies or declared states of war emergency, major hazardous material incidents, brush fires, severe weather, civil disturbances, terrorist attacks impacting Pomona, pandemics, or emergencies requiring resources from multiple cities for several days. During a disaster, all city employees become disaster service workers.
Residents and community members are encouraged to visit the Office of Emergency Management's Ready LA County at https://ready.lacounty.gov/ for emergency preparedness tips.
For any questions regarding Pomona’s EOC, please contact Naela Cansino, Safety & Emergency Preparedness Officer at (909) 620-3741 or safety@pomonaca.gov.
