The establishment of the Youth Commission is to advance the City's mission of improving the quality of life for its residents, creating a strong voice of youth leaders through governance and service learning opportunities, and engaging youth to participate in activities that improve themselves and their community.

What does Youth Commission do?
- The Youth Commission is a seven - member advisory board appointed by City Council to provide a youth-oriented point of view to City Council on matters that are important to youth.
- Make recommendations on how to address issues related to youth and foster a positive, supportive environment for all youth living in Pomona.
- Keep informed and become familiarized with the function, progress, and development of Citywide matters.
- Report activities, issues, trends. and concerns to the City Council and City Commission's reflecting Pomona's youth.

Eligibility/Requirements:
- Pomona resident
- Student in 9th-12th grade (during the 2022-23 school year)
- Two year commitment or terms end upon high school graduation
How to Apply to become a Youth Commissioner:
- Applications must be submitted by Thursday, April 27th, 2023 by 5:00 P.M.

The Parks and Recreation Commission is a mayor/city council appointed seven-member body. The Parks and Recreation Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council, Community Services Division, and Public Works Department on issues that contribute to improving the quality of life in Pomona. These issues are focused in the areas of recreation, facilities, parks and open space. Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at various community centers and City facilities at 6:00 p.m.

What does the Parks and Recreation Commission do?
- Advise on park funding opportunities
- Promote literacy through FREE community libraries
- Approve park beautification projects

The Youth Sports Committee was established to provide an avenue for the various youth sports league representatives to network, discuss field scheduling conflict issues, share sports trends, present ideas, and build rapport. The Committee was created to serve to create a working relationship between the community leagues and the City of Pomona.
The purpose of the Youth Sports Committee is to:
- Advise and recommend field allocation for youth sports leagues requesting
fields as needed. - Provide City staff with an update on sports trends.
- Advise City staff on field maintenance issues at the various parks and sports
field sites. - Provide an avenue for networking with Pomona youth sports leagues.
- Strengthen and build a sense of community.
- Serve as City partners for positive park activities and reporters of park
concerns or misuse of facilities. - Assist staff in the coordination of shared field usage, as needed.
- Assist in the recommendation of new policies and procedure for the Pomona Athletic field manual.
The Committee members are comprised of one (1) representative (President or Board Member) from a 100% Pomona-based resident youth sports league registered with the Community Services Division. Committee members or representatives are encouraged to attend meetings.
Youth sports leagues that meet the City of Pomona 100% Pomona residency
requirements are eligible to join the Youth Sports Committee. Youth leagues
requesting inclusion as a 100% Pomona-based resident youth sports league may be asked to make a presentation before the Youth Sports Committee as an introduction to the Committee; must meet the Group A documentation requirements as described in this manual; and must maintain a good financial standing with the City of Pomona.

- Little League
- Girls Softball
- Youth Soccer
- Football
